Annual Giving

Annual giving strengthens alumni and friends participation in support of the Texas A&M Health Science Center and provides essential funds for its highest priorities. It encourages ongoing annual support of academic, research and student programs.  Annual giving has become a barometer of alumni and community faith in the Health Science Center.

Capital Projects

Gifts to build and renovate facilities help the Health Science Center keep pace with changing needs of faculty and students. There are numerous naming opportunities for various capital projects that can help to expand, modernize and build. Loved ones, mentors and friends may be honored. For example, recognition ideas include nameplates on buildings, lecture halls, classrooms, laboratories and faculty offices.

Student Support

Gifts for merit-based student awards and financial aid enhance the lives of many students and enable the Health Science Center to attract and enroll the best students, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Faculty Support

Gifts to endow faculty fellowships, professorships and chairs are awarded to outstanding faculty members who excel in teaching and original research.

Honorary Gifts

Gifts in honor of a person, special occasion, or unusual achievement may be linked to any Health Science Center program or project. A donor may contribute to an existing fund or to establish an endowment.

Matching Gifts from Employers

Hundreds of companies provide matching gifts to encourage employee philanthropy. Often companies will match employee contributions by fifty percent. A donor may contact the Human Resources Department at the place of employment or the Health Science Center at 979-458-7236 to see if matching funds are provided.

Memorial Gifts

Memorial gifts are made in honor of a relative, respected professor or friend who has passed away. The contribution may benefit a school, department or designated purpose. Upon receipt of such a gift, a letter of appreciation is sent to the family of the deceased informing them of the gift.

Reunion Giving

During reunion years, former students of the Health Science Center generally increase their annual giving contributions or make significant gifts in honor of their graduating classes. Homecoming Weekend becomes a time of reunion galas, special events and celebrations, where alumni are often recognized for their advocacy, professional achievements and support.

Endowments

Benefiting the Health Science Center and its components in perpetuity, endowment funding generates a steady stream of income for professorships, scholarships, fellowships, research, and many other purposes. An "unrestricted endowment" can be established to create resources where they are most needed. Endowments are generally named in honor of the donor or donor's designee.
