Texas A&M Health Science Center
Founded in 1977, the College of Medicine (COM) is celebrating
30 years of commitment to excellence. The College of Medicine
is committed to educating, training and equipping physicians
who are compassionate about their patients and dedicated to
the communities in which they serve.
Located on five campuses across the state, the college utilizes approximately 1300 basic scientists and clinicians to instruct students during the course of their medical education.
The teaching faculty is largely responsible for creating such a positive experience. They have a genuine commitment to provide each student a personalized education. Historically, the college’s small class size has enabled such an intimate experience. As the college expands, the administration continues to hire faculty and seek clinical training opportunities to maintain this valuable part of the school’s culture. One student comments, “No other school, in my opinion, has the same level of relationship with their students."
The approval for expansion through a multi-campus model while remaining one medical school has lead to the active recruitment of new basic science faculty and the establishment of new clinical clerkship programs in College Station and Round Rock, as well as the creation of fourth year rotations in College Station, Corpus Christi, Houston, and Round Rock.
Through dedicated teaching faculty, careful student selection, and countless service opportunities, the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine distinguishes itself by producing exceptionally skilled and compassionate leaders in medicine.
